Hi All. A New Year and a completely redesigned blog for you all to enjoy, hope you like it!
Here I hope to provide an informal, lively and thought provoking online space for family, friends and you my readers to enjoy (whoever you may be). Please feel free to make your comments on the site. I would like to make a very special mention, and a great big thank you to two special guys with whom this blog would not have been made possible (I will just use the abbreviations ‘M’ and ‘C’.
This year, I am striving to focus on more controversial subject matter. I want to make 2010 a year of positive change. Over recent times after reading an article in the Gay Times on gay rights around the world, I was dismayed to learn of the discrimination and ill treatment that exists. I want to try and make a difference (as little as it may be, but at least something). Under my section “Gay Rights” I intend to focus on the rights of others around the world. It is only by addressing this issue and putting information out there that things can be done. Compared to gay men and women in countries like China, Kenya and Saudi Arabia, we are very fortunate here in the UK. We have been prescribed rights and freedoms (although not absolute). Therefore, we cannot rest, more has to be done globally, and not just at a domestic level. Lets make 2010 a year for change, a year in which gay rights are increased around the world.
2009 proved to be a year of empty promises from me – i.e. to keep this site up to date on a weekly basis. I failed completely, things just seemed to take over and I became distracted. This year I am not going to make that promise, I don’t want to go along the lines of politicians where they promise everything and then renege on them the minute they are in No. 10. Instead I am going to promise to keep my blog updated as much as possible around the other demands on my time.
2009 has been a roller-coaster of a year with the aftermath of the financial melt-down towards the end of 2008. Last years New Year seemed to be one of bleak news and very very unsettled times not knowing what would happen to our savings (if you have them that is), or what impact it would have on your mortgage etc. But that said, it hasn’t been all doom and gloom, especially towards the end of the year with the record Christmas sales figures. It has also given us an opportunity to realize the most important thing in life is not about personal monetary gains (except for the bankers bonuses 2009), but people (our families, loved ones and friends). Further, we have seen exponential growth in users of smart-phones, in particular the Blackberry and iPhone 3GS.
I am hoping that 2010 brings much joy and happiness to everyone, in an economic climate that is more stable. A year were there is steady and sustainable growth in our economy (and world economies for that matter), a year focused on tackling in a realistic way the challenges of the future with particular focus on climate change, and a year in which employment levels increase. Furthermore, 2010 promises to be an important time with the General Elections taking place – so make your decision wisely as it is likely to have considerable implications on our financial future!
So without further ado, enjoy the redesigned site and please message me on your thoughts and ideas either directly on the site, or by email: ben@benzology.com
Just before I go, I just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and all the best for 2010. I hope 2010 proves to be a year that brings much joy, love, happiness and prosperity to you and your loves ones, along with peace on earth.
Thanks
